Look, Listen, Learn - April

Hey all! This is something new I'm starting where I discuss some things that stood out to me the past month -- a monthly newsletter if you will.

Each month I'll discuss some things for you to LOOK at in terms of fashion, film, and television, new music for you to LISTEN to, and some topics for you to LEARN about.

The month of March brought us a lot of trends, truths, testimonies, and tears. Here's a few things that stood out to me...

LOOK

SPRING 2024 FASHION TRENDS

This spring is all about embracing your inner femininity, and I'm all about it! Ever since I've lost weight I've been enjoying experimenting with different silhouettes.

Fashion experts are predicting the following; sleek animal prints, breezy chiffon florals, sporty with a mix of preppy, and lightweight trench coats for the cooler days.

I'm sure you're wondering, what am I supposed to put on my feet? I've got you covered! For the more casual days, sambas are still very much in - however a variation of colors is definitely key for spring. A pop of color will always elevate an outfit! For the more dressy occasions, kitten heels are the go-to shoe. Thank goodness because the older I get the harder it is for me to wear heels all day - LOL.

Aside from whats on a lady's feet, the way her manicure looks is also very important! Especially with the resurgence of dramatic nail designs. A few of the predicted trends for 2024 are as follows: futuristic chrome embellishments, girly glittery gel, cunning cat eye, expensive jewels & gems, and lastly delectable delicious jelly nails.

QUIET ON SET: THE DARK SIDE OF KIDS TV

WOW... Not really much to say here. I have seen a lot of disturbing movies and documentaries but this one was especially disheartening due to the fact that kids were involved. Not only that, but these shows pretty much made up my entire childhood. It's unfortunate that these child stars are not able to look back at their memories of these shows fondly like the audience is able to, well at least prior to this documentary. I do think it is important for any parents, or people in general looking to enter the entertainment industry. It is currently on Hulu and a final episode is expected on April 7th.

LISTEN

WE DON'T TRUST YOU - FUTURE x METRO BOOMIN

The highly anticipated collab album by Future & Metro Boomin is finally here! And boy it did NOT disappoint. Two standout tracks for me are "Type Sh*t" featuring Travis Scott and Playboi Carti, and of course the ultimate diss track, "Like That" with the surprise Kendrick Lamar feature. I would actually put money on the fact that Drake cried when he heard Kendrick's verse LOL.

Listen to it below! This album has been on repeat, well, until another much anticipated album dropped...

COWBOY CARTER

*CUE 'MURICA NOISES* Cowboy Carter is finally HERE! I swear I was up the night before like a kid waiting for Santa Claus. I was VERY excited but also anxious for the release of Beyonce's second Renaissance act. No exaggeration, this is one of the most heartfelt and beautiful albums I have ever heard. You can tell how deeply her experience at the CMA's affected her, because she really put all of her emotions into this masterpiece. I have never been to Texas a day in my life, but Beyonce's lyricism and storytelling painted such a beautiful image, that I was able to see everything through the music. Experience it yourself below!

LEARN

KATE MIDDLETON'S CANCER DIAGNOSIS

Okay, when are we going to learn not to speculate on people's personal lives...? I'll admit I went down a few rabbit holes, and there were several things that just did not add up after a while. The whole photoshopping scandal was pretty odd to say the least. I feel like from a public relations standpoint it was definitely mishandled, especially on a high level like the Royal Family. However, if handled correctly, we could have avoided basically forcing this woman to speak publicly about the vulnerable time that she's having.

MEN PUNCHING WOMEN IN NYC

As a Native New Yorker (Long Island to be specific), I've always known that NYC wasn't exactly the safest place to be. However after the pandemic it's gotten increasingly more dangerous. Even now living in Los Angeles post pandemic life has gotten pretty scary. But NEVER in my life did I think we would get to a point where young innocent women are being punched in the face in broad daylight. Luckily, they have caught one of the main perpetrators, but who is to know if there are still others out there. Hopefully this also doesn't inspire any copy cats to continue inflicting harm onto women. Be safe ladies!

Well - that's it for this month, let's catch up in May! xoxo
